Retail Regional Sales Manager (Chicago, IL)

Position Summary

The Regional Sales Manager will maximize the region’s retail division volume and profit goals by increasing distribution and selling programs at the corporate level while opening new, and penetrating existing chain grocery. The Regional Sales Manager will target the meat department buyer and category manager within the chain to present a variety of fresh meat including Organic Chicken, Duck, Rabbit, Venison, Buffalo, Chicken and Game sausage and other specialty meat items. The Region Manager will also contact the charcuterie or cheese department buyer and category manager to present deli department items including Foie Gras, Pates, Mousses, Saucisson Sec, Spanish Ham, Specialty Sausage and other unique prepared items. The Regional Sales Manager will manage a Broker network within the Region, where needed; in those markets whereas a third party represents the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieves annual region sales volume and profit objectives
  • Meets or exceeds item distribution objectives on core items
  • Secures pricing objectives that maximize profit contributions
  • Develops and executes professional sales presentations to key decision makers including category managers, buyers and district managers at the corporate and field level in chain grocery, gourmet stores, independents, specialty stores and distributors
  • Communicates customer orders and logistics requests to customer service representative
  • Generates and gathers competitive product and pricing information
  • Develops and submits sales forecast upon request
  • Develops, plans and executes local marketing programs including product demonstrations, advertisements, price reductions and account specific programs
  • Maintains budget integrity within sales and expense budgetary guidelines
  • Participates in National and customer specific trade shows

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-7 years selling consumer goods to major grocery retailers and distributors
  • Penetrate all levels of an organization to build rapport and present products
  • Strong organizational skills and concise follow up
  • Superior verbal and written skills
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Strong analytical skills to determine key business opportunities and create strategic solutions that focus on category growth
  • Ability to learn computer based ordering systems; a unique sales order, pricing, inventory management and sales reporting system
  • Positive attitude in developing long term business relationships
  • Clean driving record and current valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to travel as needed
